I had some issues with my base burner sustaining temps in stove. when I lifted up the clean out door it was loaded with ash. I cleaned it out once and Kingcoal came over with a few specialty tools, duct tape and a hose, we got the rest cleaned out. A bird had gotten into the cap and worked it's way down and got stuck in the back pipe and created a jam where ash piled up on top of it. Even though it was mostly plugged it still worked but wouldn't hold temps over 450. After removing the bird and the ash piled on top of the bird, now the stove works like a champ. A couple of tips, a lot of ash pans don't catch all the ash during shake down; when running a stove in base burner mode the air is sucking the ash sitting on top of the plate down through and filling up under the base...along with shaking, this ash can fill up pretty quickly. Routine cleaning is easy and keeps any substantial accumulations from occurring. This happened during a full season of burning. Keep in mind that the ash will also draw moisture so be careful about letting accumulated ash build up sit as it can promote rust. Thanks to Kingcoal, this stove is running fantastic.

Did you serve the bird with dressing or just potato chips on the side? Seriously, I'm really glad you got that all figured out and the stove is back to normal. What's amazing is that it kept on running with all of that clogging.
