Well I finally got the boiler installed in my moms house with the help of scottscoaled.... well it was probably more he did the install and I helped him. But anyway I figured I'd share some pics and ask a few questions I'll start with the pics.
This is what we started with been heating the house for years its a clayton forced hot air stove and a fuel oil boiler. But since my dad passed and I bought my own house she needed something a little less labor intensive then having to load a woodstove twice a day.

So we went to this....

Its a vanwert 400 all refurbished by scott. Its piped up to circulate water through both boilers and set at a higher temp then the oil boiler so the oil theoretically should never kick on but will if it has to. It exhausts through the flue where the wood stove went a 6 inch flue. Its hooked to a 55 gallon plastic barrel for now till I can build a bigger bin. Been burning reading rice since I haven't had the time to run to lehigh for some buckwheat. Seems to be burning 1 to 1.5 bags of rice a day.
And for all you blue flame junkies one more picture.

Nize ... no leaks either ! I installed a boiler and had some leaks due to bad pipe dope ... had to tear out plumbing and re-do.

No leaks thank god I had a few minor issues like the system was back feeding hot water and the house got crazy hot. And we forgot to turn the cold water supply back on so I ended up with an air pocket in the fuel boiler. And my little brother dumped some bags of frozen coal in the bin and it broke the shear pin on the auger. But there all fairly minor bugs to work out.

That is a REALLY nice Holiday present.........that will last for a few decades. I was wondering when you were gonna get it fired up......Scotty had no boiler for quite a while! Now you know what 'coal friends' are all about. Especially that coal friend! Nice pics, and I will have to do YOGA for a couple weeks to get my neck straightened out from the sideways twist..........to view them.

Scott had that boiler sitting on the floor in his basement,it will be interesting to see if it will work as good in yours with it hanging on the wall like that.

I just can't understand how a guy can find his way to a breaker, fill a trailer, drive 3-400 miles to somewhere he hasn't ever been, deliver something we all dream about, do all that with a smile and good attitude,,,,,,,and when it comes to taking a picture, can't hold the camera sideways. You're killin me Justin! You need to make a run to the breaker and get your mom a load. Stay warm :)
