Hi: Found a Glenwood Oak that appears to be a base burner model. It is missing the ash door, mica, top finial and the plate where the shakers are seems to be missing a piece of the plate (I can see a gear on the right side which I think should be covered by the plate). I'm wondering if it is possible to locate parts or should I continue the search for one that is complete?

Tough to tell without seeing pictures. If you can post some pictures, the make/model can likely be verified.

Some models are easier to get parts for than others.

Wayne

"Oaks" are not normally BB to my understanding. Please post some pics if you can.

I got to wondering if it was a baseburner when I was watching one of Williams videos and seen base burner on his door where this one has "oak" and was also wondering if being oak if it was designed for coal or both coal & wood. I'll try the image now. Only have one from the seller.

Oaks are often more "ornate" with the castings as well I have noted. As for burning wood you could but I wouldn't. You can dial this stoves down pretty low with coal if needed. I am sure William will be along as he is "YODA" on these things... :D

Yes, that's a Glenwood Oak, but not a base heater. It can burn wood or coal.

The Glenwood #6 base heater like William has, and it's bigger brother the #8, say "Glenwood Base Heater" on the upper loading door and "Coal or Wood" on the main loading door.

From what I can see, I'd rate that as a parts stove. Would likely take a lot of parts searching and money to get it to usable condition. Your better off putting your money into a stove in better condition to start with.

Offer no more than $20. That stove has lots missing & quite a few pieces shown broken.

Thanks for all the info. I'm only looking for a base burner model since from what I have learned here they are more efficient and I like the Glenwood shaker grate system. I'm still in that long learning curve phase and I have saved a list of the makes that William posted on utube that are worth considering. If the owner had posted a picture of the backside I would have been able to determine if it was a base burner. With out the back side photo I knew more knowledgeable minds here could answer my concerns. Thanks again to all.

This is a large Glenwood Oak 30 or possibly a 40. I would pass this one up. It's a goner.
