And it uses up your oxygen as it adds CO and CO2. There's risk of hypoxia with those unvented gas fireplaces, if you don't have some cross ventilation in the room.

My Mom had one. It produced excessive moisture since the byproducts are mostly Co2 and h2o from methane.
