Fake coal.. Burns natural gas that just vents into the room..

And it uses up your oxygen as it adds CO and CO2. There's risk of hypoxia with those unvented gas fireplaces, if you don't have some cross ventilation in the room. :roll:

Wow. Yeah, those things don't look "too" dangerous. ;) Talk about looking for trouble. An exposed flame? Where would you use something like that?

Vent free, natural gas burning appliances like that are "suppose" to be safe to use in your home..

My Mom had one. It produced excessive moisture since the byproducts are mostly Co2 and h2o from methane.

In an existing masonry or prefab fireplace.

They also come in "freestabing stove" models
