Surdiac Intake Draft Maintenance?

Hi: Back again for more direction. The knob for the thermostat seems to be stiff and you have to move it considerably before the draft flap moves. Does this need taken apart and lubricated? I have seen others comment on setting indicators (1, 2, 3, 4) on these stoves which mine does not have or it is missing.
