I showed my wife a photo of a Crawford once. She said "does that thing on top come off". The older stoves are very ornate and not for everyone, but they are beautiful. We both happen to love the look of the Chubby. Tastefully designed!

if I wanted or needed a base heater - burner type or size stove and it came down to the finial being objectionable.............. i'd just put it in the closet for safe keeping.................................

just sayin', ya know.

tcalo, your wife is not alone in her thinking on all the ornate stuff on the antique stoves. If we were to buy an antique ,it would have to be one of the simpler ones. The Chubby does fit our taste too, simple good looks without looking like it fell into a treasure chest on it's way out of the manufacturing plant.

May as well show ya this. I got my "Final" for my Plymouth Coal Stove works "Chubby". Since the Mayflower is in the cast on the stove, this seemed fitting!! ( FYI its a cast iron doorstop) It also warms right up and is a extra heat exchanger!

Also she doesn't like the finials on the Oak Stoves and Baseburners so I'm gonna probably be stuck with something modern :( It saddens me. The Chubby is probably the best looking of the newer stoves.

Thanks Again,
No finial to worry about and you can't much better than a Glenwood!
