You're right in that the coal bed fire does influence the shot, especially with the flash on. At least, when I shot the ones at the top of the page. It totally eliminated the blue flames in those.
but the 1st 2 pics above that I just took this morning, had the flash"on", and in the 1st photo, I think it did pick up some blue. Not sure why.
(I hate ending up at the top of the page, when I don't "quote". It seems to happen to me a lot)

#3 pic is very interesting as it shows the blues & the yellow sparkles . What brand of coal are you burning for that pic ??

I'm on my last bag of "plain bagged" Kimmel, and about to start my 2nd ton tomorrow, which will be blaschack pea. I like that 3rd shot too Dave. I was sitting close to it,W/O the flash. The last pic, I sat back a few feet, and zoomed in.

I thought maybe it was Kimmels with all the sparkles,the Blashack never seemed to do that,Reading seems to make a bit more yellow than the Blashack .
