In the upper right search box, type in Koker Lite you will see a lot of response. They seem to be a good unit.

I helped a friend of mine put a Koker Lite in about a year ago. He tied it into the ductwork. It heats a 2200+ square foot house on a very windy hill. During the last very cold winter, the little Koker had NO problem keeping 72 degrees in his house. It uses very little coal doing it too, I think he used about 2.5 ton last year.

We looked at the Koker Lite, and a dealer recommended going with the larger Koker (160), due to it having a larger fan and heating capacity. We were going to get the Lite, and upgrade the fan, and it turned out we were a couple hundred bucks short of the bigger Koker price, so we went with that. Our house is 2200 sf as well, Koker tied into the first floor ductwork, 72 degrees is easy, and the upstairs from heat rising is a pretty constant 65-66. Basement is nice and warm, too.

Hindsight tells me the Koker Lite likely may have sufficed as well, I guess it depends on how your 2200 sf is laid out. Good choice, though, IMO. Not sure, but does the Lite come with a direct vent option? That may also be why we went with the bigger Koker.

I wouldn't count on getting 5 days out of a 200 pound hopper, maybe in the shoulder months. In the Winter you will be feeding it every two days. That is the beautiful thing about stokers, when it's 50 degrees outside, they do a lot of idling, saving coal. This also keeps your indoor temps down to a reasonable level. I'm sure you know, when it's 50 degrees outside, the wood furnace would have your house at 85 degrees WITH the windows open!

Yes sir, control of my heat is one of the many things I hope to gain with this coal furnace, the dealer said it was 100% automatic, I hope he is correct....just had a whole home generator installed yesterday, feeling much better about my power now, just hope this new coal furnace performs as well.... :D

My friend that got the Koker Lite last year is a life long wood burner. He still comments about just going downstairs to "check" on it. It just does what it's supposed to do. After the initial settup, I don't think he has changed one setting. Put coal in it when the hopper gets low and take the ashes out every 2 days. Even his wife can do it.

I have a koker lite installed in my basement. It is tied into my existing duct work. I love it! has no issue keeping the house at 72 degrees, even tonight when it is 15* with a 13* wind chill (feels like 2*) here in Central New York!

Happy New Year and enjoy the heat of coal!

I'm aware of the controversy regarding the presumption of the blower on the Koker Lite being too small, but I believe that the 1,000 CFM blower on the Koker Lite is sized nigh on perfectly for its output range, and that Keystoker knows what they are doing in matching this blower to this stove/furnace.

If the Koker Lite is rated for a maximum input of 105,000 BTUH and it is 70% efficient, its maximum potential BTUH as output is around 73,500 BTUH.

BTUH = CFM x Delta-T x 1.08
BTUH = 1,000 x 65 x 1.08
BTUH = 70,200
[ Where 65 degrees of Delta-T presumes that cold air is returning at 65 degrees and that it is being heated to 130 degrees by the Koker Lite, and where 130 - 65 = 65 ]

A blower rated as sufficient for continuously pushing up to 70,200 BTU's per hour (BTUH) into the home appears to be pretty closely matched to a stove that can only output roughly 73,500 BTU's at its maximum feed rate.

Looks like a very nice install! Will it be your sole source for home heating?

I'm not familer with any kind of an install that uses BOTH blowers?

Also, You need to take that 90 degree pipe on top of your Koker off, and replace it with a "T". It looks like you are going into a horizontal run, it will require regular cleaning. The "T" makes cleaning VERY easy, just pull the end cap off, vacuum out, install end cap. No need to shut down or pull stovepipe apart.

The outlet duct work looks nice!

The installer told me the GAS furnace blower will assist the blower on the koker, which in return will increase the over all CFM's....just repeating what I was told....... :shock:
