My email exchange with Dean Lehman follows:NorthernIndiana wrote:I just ordered a Hitzer 30-95 without a blower. I am trying to heat the new addition showed in the image below. It will be heating a 24x36 area with 2 ceiling fans. I'm pretty sure I can move the heat around with 2 fans, but I have see some posts were people are saying heat does not efficiently come off the stove because it has a "double jacket". Should I call in and ask for a blower to be added, or will it not be necessary. Blower is an extra $160, not a lot but if I don't need it I don't care to buy it. I'd like some input, thanks!

Subject: 50-93, 30-95 Blower Option
Can the blower be added to theses stoves at a later time or do they need to be ordered with this option?
Thanks,
Ron
Ron,
The radiant version of the stoves do not have any provisions for blowers. They don’t any of the air chambers or blower mounts. We make them mainly for the Amish or people who want to be completely off the grid. You can not just add a blower to the radiant version and have the blower version. The blower does help spread the heat around the house much better than the radiant. You can use the blower version and not run the blower all the time if you don’t want to. Hope this helps. If you have more questions contact your local dealer or let us know.
Thanks,
Dean Lehman

- Other Heating: Ground Source Heat Pump and some Solar
So....For the additional $160.00 upgrade, there is a lot more going into the stove fabrication than just bolting on a fan unit.

NI, I'm sure a ceiling fan would get you exactly what you are looking for heat distribution wise. At least it does for my 50-93

This info needs to go in the mental rolodex, people like me would think we can add a blower on a used unit and think we found a bargainrstrawsburg wrote:

$160 will buy a very good ceiling fan that can be used all yr long. Or buy a few box fans & have change to buy a few bags of coal. I like radiant heat from our stove,we have tried the fan at different speeds different times & have decided that we do not like the fan running. I would buy a new stove without the fan .

I never hear anyone complain about a noisy ceiling fan. I can't imagine that the ceiling fan would be as efficient at dispersing heat as the stove blower though..
It's a matter of weighing pros and cons..

You did find a great bargain! My ceiling fan works much better then the straight out the front blower ever could. Many nooks & crannies in this old farm house.

I currently have the blower off and usually turn it off when I'm going to be in the same room as the stove. I don't like listening to it. I would buy the stove without the blower without hesitation.

Nope, not foot in mouth--if the factory blower would die, you'd remove a couple screws & replace it--OR if that's not your field of competence, have a handy man do it.

Please read Dean's response to rstrawsburg e-mail^^^^ ordering a stove with out a blower is a different animal than one with.freetown fred wrote:Nope, not foot in mouth--if the factory blower would die, you'd remove a couple screws & replace it--OR if that's not your field of competence, have a handy man do it.Stoker6268 wrote:Seems kinda odd not being able to install later. Im a little hard of hearing and any hum or squeak makes it hard to hear TV, plus I enjoy peace and quiet at times which is why I live here in the first place. Birds and wind are all I want to hear.
You have an wide open floor plan. No way would I want a blower on a stove. Get a nice ceiling fan. They are quiet and you can use it in the summer too, unlike a stove fan. A ceiling fan will likely never wear out either. If you actually don't like it after trying it for a year, get one with a blower. Then you can send me a nasty private message and tell me Im full of crap and other expletives.
