That #8 can be made into pretty and never see a flame...and all of our concerns are moot.

If a dealer got it he might of been able to repair 2 or 3 #8 stoves into sellable condition, recasting what was lacking between the lot from the others.
I don't believe many dealer's would have a zero count at ebay, though.

I too have been following this sale and the enjoyable conversation on the forum.

I wouldn't be surprised if the new owner shows up here with a few questions from our members.

I exchanged emails with the seller, and came away with the impression he burned wood in it and thought it to be a working stove, only to discover after being asked questions the stove was damaged and we all watched as the info & photos dribbled out as bidding progressed.

He stated several times --- " The additional info I posted was after I took pics. inside, with the idea of posting them, and saw a couple of missing pieces, which will not affect the working of the stove and which I posted the info. on. As I said, at this time I can't seem to post the pics. " ----- "The stove is complete and I am willing to put the whole thing back together if that is what the buyer wants. I would never intentionally try to deceive anyone, either on ebay or anywhere else in life."

He could be just another of the thousands of uninformed people who carelessly place ads on ebay and craigslist only to find they have none or little working knowledge of the item they are selling. Or ---- they are just dumber than a stump and end up in a twisted mess trying to talk there way out of a mess they find themselves caught up in.

Example: this is a form link by me asking questions from the forum because the seller has no idea what he is selling. Post by Buck47 - Is This a Bit Burner or Anthracite Stove

I do hope the buyer of the Glenwood Base Heater on ebay shows up on the forum, this saga needs closure. And if the buyer is one of the forum members, I'm sure they will receive the usual help and playful comradery this forum is noted for.

In the mean time, I enjoy gossip and speculation as much as the next guy, so remember, If you can't say anything nice about someone, come over here and sit next to me. :D

Wilson,
Ya likely got "sniped". I've had it happen to me, even after downloading and using the eBay sniping program. The sniping program has helped me win with last minute bids, but not if other bidder has a faster internet connection than me.

Well, at least ya won't be wearing out your lower back having to move that beast. :D It still amazes me that your back has held up after more than 30 years of dragging antique stoves around.

Paul
