I know a coal group but restoring a wood stove for a friend to sell well they owe me some cash so selling it for them to pay me the debt and the time to restore it. Put a second coat of Krylon stove and BBQ paint on good for 1200 degrees and has a gloss to it. What do you all think the typical yuppie would want the glossy version or flat black typical one?

I think they want a color that matches their roof solar panels  The roof solar panels cancel the carbon foot print of the coal stove :)

Glossy sells unless it highlights warping or other defects. Shiny is better.

That was starting to become my thought it looks 'newer' LOL Not warped and not new either some minor pitting here and there but not anything to cause any pause or worry. If they want new they will spend a bunch more than 450 for one. I need to finish it ASAP as we are headed for a bitter cold spell and should sell quickly.

Went to Marshfield MA last Friday and wow that has to be the high rent district. He was a double mocha frappe guy with a double shot of espresso. I have been dragged through the high end coffee shop and tell them to pretend they are a Dunking Doughnuts and just give me a regular. I got the spare Crane 404 from him and all I can say pretentious at a whole new lever. Not sure what to do with it yet but sitting in the shop costs nothing.

When I was a kid Marshfield and the neighboring towns were for people who couldn't afford to live close to Bahston!

Boston bashing aside. . . my old used Crane 88 was looking pretty shabby, until I spotted the tube of stove polish at the Ace Hardware.

Rubbed on with a damp rag, I think it's carbon black, or maybe graphite in a wax vehicle. It set up with the first firing, and looks damned nice. Kind of a semi metallic black gray.

A $5 tube seems like it will last several polishings which can't be needed more than every couple years? Time will tell.

Why are you asking? By your post, it seems you've already painted it. Are you clearcoating it, for the matt or glossy finish?
