Its -14 right now and the ds machine basement stove is pumping out 550. This house is over 105 years old, no insulation in the walls either and heating 1800 sq ft 3 floors with natural heat rising and cold falling into basement. Basement is about 80, first floor 73, and second floor 69. Going through about 100 lbs of coal (120,000btu's) today . Bring on the cold!! :D :D

That's fantastic. How are you moving the heat from the basement into the house?

I have a 32X24 floor register on the first floor that is right above the stove with a HVAC ducting that is bolted to the floor joist in the basement to about 12 inches from the top of the stove. Returns are at the end of the house going to the basment

I'm going from high 60's to low 70's today in the room with the stove, it's horribly windy outside and about 9 degrees -2 with wind chill, I have the propane stove in the back corner of the house on auto, set to 60, and second floor thermo (oil furnace) set to 60. I have 3 zone heating on my oil furnace so if it gets too cold in the upstairs or back part of the house I can supplement those. The third zone thermostat is in the front living room with the coal stove.

I think I would have much better temps if I had any curtains in my house, a zillion windows and no curtains, I am working on that! :?

I am in the 70-75 range. Stove 400-500 mostly. Its been below zero a few days now. Figuring out the new beast. If I want it warmer I just give it more air.

Well now the wind has slowed some maybe now I can cut the temp back some I don't like running this high but you do what you have to do. I can normally maintain a 3* differential upstairs from the living room to the bedrooms but It's around 5* right now.

definitely not the best setup for whole house heating but It works. Keepaeyeonit :)

I also noticed last year on 1-29-2014 I took almost the identical pic of the stove temp but it was 620* with the temps outside were identical as right now :o

OK, so it doesn't look like i'm doing to bad. Very similar to everyone else. Thanks for the replies. I think I can get quite a bit more heat out of her if I put a duel speed blower on there. Low speed for continuous running and high speed for duct temps above 130 or so.

TO be honest I expected a lot more out out this furnace. Its like 180,000 BTU or something like that.

But hey it still beats 65 degree temps in the house and $600 Dollar electric bills.

Any suggestions to get more out of this furnace??

Stove is 650 and needs a shake and slice grates drill. Stove room 78, living room 72, kitchen, 68 bathroom needs to be run on oil if more than a quick pee call as it is 62. 4F degrees wind chill-14F and wind picking up. Forecast is -1F and wind chill -21 to -25F. Big question is how to empty ash pan outside when blowing 15 to 20.

Hi John, I knew you'd be impressed with the output of the 50-93, as compared to the 30-95, which is also a very good stove. I personally know the difference. In your own words, how would you compare the two stoves. Maybe you can start a new post, as to not steal this one. Back on track here; Outside temp is -3*, with slight breeze. Inside is 74* throughout. Kaa-2 purring away. The little boiler still impresses me :) .
