Actually, I'd pay money to see the O2 mod done on an Octopus....

You could plumb it into a round gas gill burner mounted below the grates :)

I bet the whole donut would glow!

The shop is an ancient, poorly insulated, metal building. We're located on top of a mountain with nearly constant wind. Also, we have several large (2 and 3 feet in diameter) ventilation fans that, even though not running, have no shutters and lose mountains of heat.

I figure if we had 400k to 500k BTU per side, we could keep it warm but I can't get anyone to approve the capital expenditure for that...

If they will not buy shutters for the fans why even bother? It is a waste of time at best. If the owners are not working next to the employees the value of employees already determined at 0 and disposable.

Attached is the result of feeding compressed air through the ash door of one. Please note - I did not do this but I couldn't resist taking a picture.
and that is what's called a BLAST FURNACE :D
now you can smelt your own iron and steel.... :)

Not only is this destructive and dangerous behavior but it puts everyone's livelihood at risk. When the fun and laughter stops and someone yells out "We Better Call Them NOW" it may not seem like a such a great idea. My $.02 Mike
