Pawoodchucker I've never priced nut coal but that seems expensive to me. I am local to your area and I have found a place in Bernville where I get my bagged rice for $245 a pallet picked up. That works out to be $4.90 a bag. It is Reading anthracite and I'm sure they sell nut also. Just a thought.

Good evening all
I'm always open for a new place for cheap coal . Nothing is cheaper than self pick up of bulk. Pottstown roller mills is getting 6.70 for reading 10 dollars off for a ton . So I just buy 10 at a time not need to store it for no savings. I worked out of cresona for the past 4 years and past , worked in , seen all the coal breakers and mines from pine grove to wilkes barre. Heck we explored some open shafts out in the woods. Not smart but being a city boy it was exciting. The week before x-mas I work out side Lehigh ant even have a pass to get in . I never gave it a thought because I never could get cold to burn in my Wonderluxe until now. Also u must figure cost of fuel to transport this material and trailer rental. I will be building a bin outside this spring so I can get bulk
Here is the math
Roller mill. 10 x 6.70 =$67/400lbs. Reading nut
Livngreen. 10 x 7.50=$75/500lbs Lehigh nut That's 100 lbs more for 8 dollars
Ace hardware in east Greenville want 7.90 for 40 lb bags
I hope that is a little clearer. Please let me know if there is something cheaper. I'm willing to take a road trip if the money makes sense. Thanks Craig

Hey Craig, it is a shame that The Pottstown Roller Mills is so expensive because it is very convenient. The place I'm dealing with is called Reifsnyder's Ag Center in Bernville. Their price for 40# of Reading is $4.90 per bag if you buy a ton. Not sure what the price is if you get less than a ton but it's got to be better than $6.70 at The Roller Mills. Might be worth a phone call.

The roller mills didn't seem to care how much I wanted just simply no discount for a ton. I got 5 really crappy busted up bags. The last time I was there I told the guy twice to take bags out of my truck I didn't want them because of the previous time. I actually had to yell and use the f- word till he under stood what I was saying. Dust won't burn in my stove I'll check the bernville place thanks for the info. Side note I bought my truck at the dealer by the gas station on 183. Precision auto

Ran maybe 30 lbs of the Lehigh nut .i won't disrespect reading coal but I do believe the roller mill is rough with handling their product . Opened a bag from livngreen and it's very shiny , all nut size almost no dust or fines. It crackles different and after 10 hours it was kinda yellow hot . My magnet chimgard was reading around the 600 degree mark on the door. I truly believe that who ever is handling the product has a lot to do with the quality we burners get. I'll still burn both because I have 10 of each on hand. I would like to try all the brands out there just for the fun factor! This is fun isn't it!

Yes Craig this has definitely become a passion of mine that I hate to see end when the winter is over. I've got about 600 # of Reading left and I think I'm going to pick up some Blaschak at Douglassville Ace Hardware to see if it's a little cleaner. Weather like we've been having I've been burning around 100# a day.
