Here is a Modern Glenwood 114 they are asking $1,000.00 for. Two hour drive and it looks like it's in rough shape. Are they a better heater than my Glenwood Oak 30?

Is this Sterling 116 a base burner or a straight oak stove? (Not in the hunt, just curious). Looks like a nice stove.
That 114 is way over priced. Even if every part is good in it looks like there is still a load of work to get it going again. Appears to have the back pipe. More of a room heater than a whole house heater. At least not a drafty old house heater! I think your Glenwood 30 would put out more heat.

I'm told it's a straight oak.dhansen wrote:Is this Sterling 116 a base burner or a straight oak stove? (Not in the hunt, just curious). Looks like a nice stove.
That's what I thought. If it were a top of the line base burner you might be able to justify the price.tmbrddl wrote:I'm told it's a straight oak.dhansen wrote:Is this Sterling 116 a base burner or a straight oak stove? (Not in the hunt, just curious). Looks like a nice stove.

I have a compressor and the blasting equipment so I can handle the restorations myself. I really enjoy doing it.Smokeyja wrote: If you got the means to restore yourself and don't mind putting time into it then a private sale can be a good deal as well
The guy is asking $400.00 for this one. Home Sparkle by Portland Stove Foundry.

I'm out of control on the stove front myself. I have a little Atlantic End Heater sitting in the garage I have absolutely no need of but I bought it anyway. I suppose I could put a chimney up and have a heated garage. I have a tractor fetish as well...the wife doesn't understand that one either. About time I took up golf.michaelanthony wrote:I've looked at that one myself and asked for inside pic's, it's too far of a ride if it's a dud. ...and plus I need to sell one for the Mrs. to even consider it!

I think most of us have this disease .tmbrddl wrote:I'm out of control on the stove front myself.
