Yes I read their entire history a few minutes ago and that answered my vent and flue questions....hoping I can use a stainless steel class A chimney.ONEDOLLAR wrote:John
When Larry refurbs a Chubby HE refurbs a Chubby! From top to bottom the stove is rebuilt and refinished.
Chubby's have a 6 inch flu and there are Top Vents and Rear Vents. Blower and non blower units. Used inventory changes all the time so it is hard to say what is in stock on the used side. Lots of "turnover" Feel free to give Larry a call and he can tell you better than I what is in stock. His number is 781-293-7990
PS The ownership of Chubby Stove has not changed since the start of the company...

I guess one of my other attractions to the chubby is it looks as if you could put a cast iron dutch oven on top of it to cook a nice slow cooked meal!

Dutch Oven or a big ole pot of Chile, Stew, Soup or whatever your heart desires! I cook baked potatoes inside of my Chubby and Larry has cooked pizza inside of his. Among other edible items. If you haven't, check out the "Blizzard Food" section on the Chubby Website.

I'm checking it out as we speak....this would allow me to do all of my cooking by the sounds of it....I do not cook inside at all from May to November and this would allow me to accomplish not using my electric stove and crock pot....I like to go to work and come home to a meal already cooked! Can't use the pellet stove for it as it does not get warm enough! Okay, I checked out the section on BLIZZARD FOOD....I wanna know how to cook inside the Chubby!ONEDOLLAR wrote:John

For baked potatoes I place them around the rim of the firepot. There is a space between the firepot and the outer shell of the stove. Cooking inside the Chubby is as simple as opening the door and placing your pan on the coal bed. Good for deep dish pizza in a cast iron pan.johnjoseph wrote:.I wanna know how to cook inside the Chubby!

Cook the food right in on top of the coal with the gases ? Is there no danger of gas contaminating the food ? I am curious as this is all new to me, not trying to debate. Is there a good breakdown picture of the Chubby's inside anywhere ? Pics of the grates, etc. ?? I hope these questions are not too far off topic for the OP.

Larry and others have been cooking on and in the Chubby's for over 35 years and myself I do it all the time. The baked potatoes are awesome! (You don't want to cook right after refreshing the coal bed though.)
You can find pictures of the grate and firepot at the Chubby website. http://www.chubbystove.com

you can.. I had some help, but put together a 21 ft Duravent chimney fairly quickly. Everything was at Home Depot. Pipes are like 80 bucks/3ft section, and the Thimble was like 320, then the extra outside wall spacers 50 , and the top, 40.. Out came the interest free Orange plastic.johnjoseph wrote:I really wish I could install my chimney in the winter. ..I would get one next month
Here is a pic of my "grand nephew-in-Law" added one more section of Duravent and the cap back on. With 3 - 90 degree bends and living in a river valley, this is barely enough, but does the job. Hardest part is the mess you make with the thimble, BUT have seen them put through cellar windows with correct legal clearances too.

Unfortunately in Jan., Feb., And March there is not many people willing to help install a chimney in below zero temps!

I thought if you lived that far North in Maine you either 1) went in the hibernation during the winter months or 2) had Polar Bear DNA infused with your DNA..... Very confused.. Very confused.....johnjoseph wrote:Unfortunately in Jan., Feb., And March there is not many people willing to help install a chimney in below zero temps!
