So I have been burning bit coal in my heatmor owb for almost 2 weeks. I think I need some over the fire air. I have a couple picture of the stove in progress.

1 hr after loading. After the coal starts to burn I have a good bit of black ash flying around. I have a couple ideas for over the fire air. Anyone have opinions on what I need to do if anything.

Are you banking the fire? Should recover quickly and not smoke very long.

Did you make your own grates to use coal. Wood grates usually have too wide a gap in them which would let still burning coal fall through.
