If it doesn't fall through the grates burn it! It may need a little more air both top and bottom.

They sent me pictures next to dime and it looked like there were larger pieces about the size of a quarter.

I mix nut and pea all the time. It gives me a hotter fire for longer period of time. The best of both sizes. I'll use pea during the day and pea/nut mix at night for the hotter, longer fire then just pea can give. No complaints. Lisa

This is first full coal burning season and I have only burned nut so far I am a wood burner also so I think I can handle the mixing and air control aspect and adjust for it . Thanks. I also just bought a large coal chubby with blower unit in awesome shape can't wait to try her out once I clean her up a bit .

seems like chubby jr owners use pea.

Worst case is that they partially fall through the grates, right? Not like its super small size, should burn although maybe not as hot as other larger size due to air flow.

I mixed the pea coal on top of the nut coal it was a bit of a pain mixing and having two different buckets of coal but since the price was right it seems to be worth itI did wind up leaving the air open a bit more than usual.
