It doesn't matter what the repair is, it is insane to have to do that for engine work. Who in their right mind would tuck an engine under the cowl making it impossible to repair anything on it without drastic measures ?? Oh that's right, some dumb ass engineer who doesn't know anything about building repairability into their vehicle designs. I see it every friggin' day. And to think of the money that these guys make, it definitely makes one shake their head.

Did you ever watch those shows on TV like "How It's Made?" A lot of the vehicles now a days are built in separate modules that they install into the vehicle as it is being made. Looks great on paper for assembly, but creates nightmares for repairers everywhere.

Ya Rick I do believe you on that, I have only pulled a turbo on a 99 not at all fun but never a motor on the newer trucks and from the looks of it by the time you removed everything to get it out the only thing left is the cab and from the looks Of it that needs raised to. I'm sure The engineer's on the trucks never held a wrench in there live's :o or so it seems! I know you can get the 6.0 out without cab removal but I don't know about anything after that, and with what you said about it it may not be worth trying.

Keepaeyeonit ... that looks alot like the way Ford designed the Focus and Taurus. Prepare for bloody knuckles ... What a design!

Hey Fred good luck with the ignition - wish I was closer to ya! I'd have that thing running in no time. You just take it easy and let the youngins do the grunt work - you gotta heal! Rob already said what I was going to suggest, so your in good hands. I so hear you on electronics. It's one of the main reasons I keep throwing money into our '89 S-10 Blazer. Thing runs sooo beautifully without a single electronic part on it, aside from the HEI unit. Just got to fix the 4x4 one of these days ... and she's due for some new tires! I almost crashed into my house today ... :lol: I've had enough of body work this month. Had to throw on a new tailpipe the other day too. Only 3 years old ... :mad: For $16, I'm not sure what to expect there ...

Just spent 4 hours moving ton after ton of snow. Ran through 2.5 tanks of gas on the snowblower ..... but I stole the gas tank off the little 4HP Ariens I have. It's pretty small - half the size of the OEM one. Why spend money when you don't have to, ya know?

We were entertained all day long by how the media creates a crisis out of every single storm. Wow ... snow in Massachusetts! Your kidding!! :roll: I so fear for the next couple generations. They're going to be so helpless ....

Didn't take any pics of the snow - was to busy moving it ... and after that I was sick of looking at it. I had a snot-cicle hanging off my face - Fred says I resembled a WALRUS .. toothy

11° when I finished up. Snowed all night and all day today - still flurrying as I type. Might get another couple inches overnight. East of us is getting pounded. Boston might have to start dumping snow in the Harbor ...... oh, wait ..... hazardous waste! Guess they'll have to keep it out in the streets ... :lol:

Here's some Taurus pics for ya, speakin' of wonderful engineering. How about a radiator that can only be removed from the BOTTOM ... WTF!!

Snowman Smitty Cometh ! I Wondered just how You were dealing with Der Snow ! You always bring up the glaring defects of Modern Auto Design Engineering. They won't be Happy until they've made everything "Stealership Only"......I see they haven't met us......! Stay Warm,Smits !! :up:

WTH, I had to use TWO different wrenches to remove this entire intake/exhaust/carburetor manifold setup. All the head nuts are brass on steel studs: no rust, two cotter pins on choke an throttle linkage, and three bolts on the exhaust down pipe flange..

That's when they built them with the owner and the mechanic in mind.
On my 68 Jag the bonnet lifts up giving you plenty of room to get around the engine. My Ford F150 I I take to the local garage for anything other than adding windshield wiper fluid!
