Well it seems there's "suppose to" be some snow tomorrow. They cancelled schools, my work, and the Gov. is mandating no driving. So I guess we'll all be stuck inside, watching coal burn. Anyone got any projects to accomplish on their stove/stoves? I want to play with my 111 in the garage, but it's a little "uncomfortable", due to no heat. How ironic is that? A Glenwood screaming for attention, and a frigid cold garage. I tried to scrounge up some extra pipe and elbows, to hook it into my wall thimble, but don't have enuff to reach it. And the purchase price of buying what I need will push the $100 bill mark, which I don't want to spend for a "temporary" test drive. What's a mother to do?
What will "you" be doing, during the storm?

Well being in central VA this storm will probably be nothing to us. Another disappointing winter . Those in Northern VA will act like idiots more so than normal and freak out and have a million wrecks. People In Georgia will sleep in their cars on freeways and that about sums it up haha . I love the cold weather and winter time because everyone is scarce and I can relax and work on what I want to. Do you have a kerosene heater or something you can put in the garage tomorrow ? That's what I use in my shop until I get it insulated and heating hooked up. It works rather well .joeq wrote:Well it seems there's "suppose to" be some snow tomorrow. We live on a pretty heavily traveled road, but by this time tomorrow I expect to see snowmobiles going by and not much else.

I don't know a single person that owns a snow mobile . Isn't that sad ? Tells you how worthless our winters are here . It's muddy here . We have lots of mud.rberq wrote:We live on a pretty heavily traveled road, but by this time tomorrow I expect to see snowmobiles going by and not much else.
I will have to live vicariously through all of you instead . Post photos or it didn't happen.

Ive never been on a snowmoblie, and have seen lots of snowy winters. Just can't justify the expense, the storage, or the time needed to maintain them, along with my other junkers.
And Josh, I do have a kerosene heater that I use in desperate situations. I haven't found any material to make my chimney yet.

Like Smokeyja said this has turned in to a non event here in Northern VA. With only 1 to 3 inches forecast I'll be lucky to have a two hour delay for school in the morning. It's been disappointing to say the least. Lisa

At work here. Doing 12 hour shifts in the control room. Can't complain though, I'm still getting used to this odd thing called "overtime" Y'all stay warm, and hopefully CL&P can keep your lights on.

Any of you Va. members have 3 + acre property ? We have 4.2 acres here & currently have about 7-8" of snow on the ground, still snowing ,maybe another 3-4" overnite yet. We would like to live where it snows less & is less cold. You would like to live where it snows more & is colder. ^ v I do hate moving tho & especially that far,but..........

I like to say CL really slurred so it sounds like silly. Which would then explain their rates.

Who didn't see that coming when they made them divest themselves from actually generating power?confedsailor wrote:I like to say CL really slurred so it sounds like silly. Which would then explain their rates.

Haha I have 3.5 acres in the country . 10 mins from the heart of the city. It's odd I know but really cool. You hit a line and it goes from city to country instantly . No suburbs .windyhill4.2 wrote:Any of you Va. members have 3 + acre property ? We have 4.2 acres here & currently have about 7-8" of snow on the ground, still snowing ,maybe another 3-4" overnite yet. Sure gives us the best of both worlds . I sure do complain about no snow but this is my home . It's a nice place to live. I do like PA though. Everytime I have visited I have enjoyed it and it would be commonwealth to commonwealth .

I love how George Jepsen ran on his record of stopping generation rate gouging... If this state hadn't deregulated there would be no way for them to gouge... But hey, that's progress baby!
