A couple weeks ago my "view more smiles" would not work properly, they would work before typing text but not after basically rendering them useless. Now my search box at the top of the page stopped working. Any thoughts?

That happened to me, and before that Fred had the same issue. I think it had something to do with Flash not being updated, or having a corrupt update. Could try updating it, or uninstalling & finding an older version - I've done that in the past and it worked.
Friggin computers .... I spent over 3 days getting this one back up and running after the damn thing wouldn't connect to the internet no matter what I tried. Had to wipe it all out and start over again ...

I went to my tools icon w/ GOOGLE(top right) & under safety, found that my active X thingy was checked--I un-checked it & walla--the smilies don't move any more like I think they used to--BUT--so goes the cyber world--PS, I had not checked the active X thing--it just WAS--I also uninstalled an update by doing a system restore prior to the update

Same here bro, I've used the wife's desk top one day and my son's Ipad, (my 7 yr. old has an Ipad wtf!!)My compuker, intentional spelling, was telling me it couldn't connect blah blah blah and after resetting and doing things I couldn't remember if my life depended on it, is finally connected. I can't get my yahoo mail on this and fricken craigslist won't give me the choices on viewing the listings. I hate having to read craigslist, I much rather look at pictures first.SMITTY wrote:That happened to me, and before that Fred had the same issue. Both depend on Javascript, something is blocking Javascript.michaelanthony wrote:A couple weeks ago my "view more smiles" would not work properly, they would work before typing text but not after basically rendering them useless. What you are referring too is Java, it has nothing to do with Javascript. Javascript cannot be updated, it can only be blocked with browser settings, etc.freetown fred wrote:OK, do the system restore--musta been an auto update w/ javascript.THen go to javascript & mark to notify you of any updates if you can.
As far as Java goes my advice is to remove it using the add/remove programs in the control panel, very few sites use it and it's often exploited with malicious code. If a site says you need it you can reinstall it if you wish but frankly you're probably not going to find any.

Ahhhhh, I regress:)Whatever it is, I know the system restore worked when I was having that problem--plus going to tools & unchecking active X filtering.

Active X would not have anything to do with this issue either.

No idea Fred but Active X is only on IE, other browsers require a plugin.freetown fred wrote:Then why when I unchecked active X...

The point Fred is active X has nothing to do with Javascript and is irrelevant as far as this site goes

This^^^^^ is telling me javascript is supported in my web browser. When I try to use "view more smiles" I get the pop up window with all the additional smiles but when I choose one nothing appears in my text, I then close the window and it drops down behind my browser icon (internet explorer icon) and creates another folder or window so when I try to open the "view more smiles" later nothing happens because it is down behind the icon still and I then close the additional window and repeat this Chinese fire drill over and over. I hope this is making sense.Richard S. wrote:Active X would not have anything to do with this issue either.
