I wish I had saved the article but I read a study recently that says just that, we are heading into a period of significant global cooling. It went on to say that global climate change has little to do with any human activity but is directly tied to solar activity. There are natural cycles of solar storms and lack of same over long periods. We are entering a cycle of diminished solar activity so keep those coal bins full and lay in an extra few tons. It could be a mini ice age.

I don't know what is in the future, but I can relate to the past, to some degree, in my area.

60 years ago, it wasn't uncommon for the winter temperatures to be -20*F for extended periods. 60 years ago, it wasn't uncommon for the snows to have to be moved with huge blowers, bulldozers, etc.. Supposedly, Niagara Falls froze solid in 1911. :?:

This winter, I'm not sure it's even made it down to 0*F and even though I plowed, it wasn't really required ... more of a nuisance snow.

How cold would it have to be, that no one would be alive?

From what I've read the water was still falling under the ice. I guess if the water receded enough the falls could completely freeze but if there is the volumes of water I've seen I don't what temp it would take. This would make a good myth busters segment.

There was a book I read by a Michael Crichton called State of Fear that suggest that the whole global warming thing is actually a complicated ploy manufactured by a group of lawyers as a means to strip these charitable foundations of their money. The foundations themselves were started by the same lawyers. They figured they could convince the public that there was global warming by starting lawsuits against the government. The public would sort of be conditioned to believe there was warming simply because it was told repeatedly by the news industry that there was. The author did a real good job proving his theory by using extensive footnotes citing all this research that was performed by independent testing facilities that were not financed by the same foundations that were being stripped . Good book, a real eye opener. :) Scott

I was at Niagara falls,in the winter coincidentally with my ex GF. Just to add was quite spectacular at night. Anyhow they did have few exhibits their depicting the lower part after the falls which was frozen across. Wasn't solid though of course. Was used as a ice bridge to get from one side to the other. I believe there was mention of the falls themselves freezing solid but if I remember correctly it was just one side, it wasn't the entire thing. The American side most likely as the volume of water isn't all that great as it is on the Canadian side and the geography itself would lend to freezing solid. See the pic below.

Here's pic my GF took:

I was scrounging around to try and find out what the old rotary snow throwers looked like ... anyhow came up with this 23 minutes video. Interesting! And you thought your job was tough.

What will ALGORE do? He's been busy building a career on the false premise that man is responsible for global warming and the demise of all we hold near and dear! Now to have everything he's created crumble around him? What about all the "carbon credits" he's bought to reduce his "carbon footprint"?
It's good for a laugh anyway...

Don't worry about Al and the carbon credits he bought. He bought them from shill companies that he and his friends set up.

You mean that ALGORE is doing something less then honorable? Can't be true. And just as I was about to ditch the gas -guzzler for a hybrid. Now I have to throw away all 100 copies of his books that I have.
