How much to charge hunters?

How much to charge hunters?

PostBy: ktm rider On: Wed Feb 27, 2008 5:50 pm

I have 76 acres that sits smack in the middle of state game lands. So, actually there is a whole mountain that is huntable from my property. It is pretty far back in the sticks.
I always get people cruising 4 wheelers through my property in the summer that are from the Baltimore/DC area and they ALWAYS ask me if they can come up and hunt. I usually decline but now have been having second thoughts.

One particular hunting season that appeals to me is Bear season. It is only 4 days long and is in October. How much would you guys charge someone for the 4 day hunt? I am willing to lead them to the best areas and even show them a few treestands that have potential. I am also willing to allow them to bring a camper/ RV and stay overnight and hook up to the power supply etc..

I am familiar with the legalities of this, so, tht is not what I am asking. I just have no idea what the going rate would be..

In 1995 a guided bear hunt in Canada cost me about $800 if I am remembering correctly. That included being put on baits, motel and liscense fees for 5 days, skinning and butchering. I think just the 5 day hunt and guide service was $425

$300.00 sounds reasonable.........as long as you can't even tell they were there when they leave................

Hi Shawn, when I went out west to call coyotes and whack PrairieDogs from long distances, my guide charged about $200/day per person.. He had the access to the private land, and knew where the 'dog towns were, and where the coyotes were active.

If you are actually 'guiding' the hunters, not just giving access to the land... I'd charge a minimum of $150 per person per day, or give a discount for exclusive access for the four days...

Have you checked around to see what other hunting clubs charge??
