Been chugging along at 350 for awhile , I may kick it up a bit tonight . It's to be colder and its been real windy. Can't beat it though, shake and fill every 12 hours. One of the best purchases I ever made. Thanks Larry GREAT PRODUCT made in USA.

Is that a refractory fire pot in there or am I just seeing a layer of white ash?

That's Kimmels and Lehigh mixed nut, I like the size of Kimmels the pieces are a good bit bigger tha Blashak or reading. I've been burning Lehigh mainly this year, I fill 5 buckets at a time and bring them inside, if I don't have time to refill I bring in a bag of Kimmels. Until I get to fill the buckets. I have about 1/2 ton bags of Blashak and reading also, so whatever is on top I grab. I really like the Lehigh the size is uniform and bigger than Blashak or reading but not as big as Kimmels. It all burns and throws heat and that's what matters.

Here's a Picture of My Chubby. I think it looks great and it really throws the heat! It won my Wife over last winter.

Can you imagine the look on my teenage son's face when I said I need you to post a picture of your Dad's Chubby on the internet

Hi Warminmn,
I am interested to know the purpose of the item that your chubby is enclosed in? I am thinking about buying a chubby but I am concerned about its placement in my home. I live in a shotgun house with a central hallway that is about 5.5 ft wide. I want to place the unit there but I am concerned about it being so exposed . Your enclosure may be the solution.

It is for wall heat protection and works very well. It's a real cheap re-use item, just an old fireplace screen that I added tin too, and primed it gray.

You would need protection towards both walls if I understand you right, I guess my thinking at the time was everything round.... round stove, oval floor protection, round stand/hearth, and rounded heat shroud. I could easily extend this further to protect the sides if I needed to.

Thanks. I believe I can make it as well. What tin guage did you use? (I ask this not knowing if that is the correct terminology)
