Hand Fed Coal Stove: Green Colonial

Post by Brianrbull » Sun. Mar. 15, 2015 5:27 pm

UPDATE: I am home and have been playing with this stove.
I had a friend go pick up a load of.coal for me. . 11c a pound from the local Co Op. Ranging in size from bowling ball size chunks to almost sand...mostly nut size and down....Was not impressed.... But this stove eats it quite well. HOT COALS only with the sand.
I am learning that bituminous is a different burn than anthracite......
Strong Bouquet, and the lovely smoke..... But boy she gets hot.... And this.brings me to the Question section.

1. How hot is too hot? I know Glow = Bad..... But what range can I safely keep it humming along at?

thank You all for the great information..

You should be able to run her the same temp as an anthracite stove. I'm guessing that you want her 700 or below ( 700 is the number kicked around a lot on here).

Glad to hear you warmed her heart. :D
