My dad had this thing for years, and it's been sitting in my mom's garage for another 20 after he passed. My mom now passed away a few weeks ago, and I am cleaning out the house. I was about to send this thing the the scrap heap, but didn't know anything about it, and figured I would find a forum and see if anyone could tell me about it.

I assume this thing is garbage, but wanted to make sure before I junk it.

Any info would be great.

Welcome to the forum.

Can you post pictures of it, inside and out? That will give people in the forum something to go by.

OK, I'm just testing to see if I can post pictures here. I'll need to go take some and come back to post them.

Is there some online directory of these? I am astounded I cannot find anything similar.

Thanks for the help.

your posted photo works. Give the forum some time to reply . Lots of information from all sorts of people on this forum. Before ever scrapping a stove at least let someone have the chance to save it :) . you never know what will come of it. Thanks for taking the time to learn about it some more before sending it to its grave.

Looking forward to more photos.

You can type "moore stove" in the top right search box and put the coffee on.

lol...no, it doesn't look anything like that. It is not nearly as ornate, and by the design, I would not place it that old. It's more of a vertical rectangle that stands about 4.5 feet tall, with beveled edging draped down the front. It seems to be set up for duct out the back, and is heavy as heck. It appears to be either porcelain or coated cast iron, and the pit seems too small to be intended for wood IMO.....but honestly, I have no idea what I am looking at.

I'll put up some pics next week. I'll be out of town at my son's Hockey tournament all weekend.

Thanks!

It says air tight on it, so it was likely a good stove, at least when new. Someone here will likely be interested in it, at least for parts.

Here are some pics. It looks complete to me, but not sure. I'm guessing at the very least, someone might want it as a garage unit or something.

I live in a suburb of Chicago, about 30 miles south of the city.

Thanks Guys.

It looks like it was made for bit coal and wood. The slots you see are for above fire air, to help with efficiency and burn off gases. It wouldnt work real well for anthracite (hard coal), without sealing those slots you see in the firebox.

Has a nice Art Deco look to it! Are all the front panels present?

That stove looks to be in very good condition. Is the cover for the top there? I don't see it in the pictures.

I don't see the locking assembly on the ash door either.

All the front panels are there, and I think I know where the top grate is. It's a nice piece.

Ya anywhere near Downers Grove??? I'd guess around the 40's,--couple hundred $$$ to someone that WANTS it-- basic warm morning/sears design---SWPD--ash door latch--left side on the ash door.
