Original coal burning unit, the octopus, still sits in the basement of our 100+ year old house in Westchester, NY. Would love to get it restored and working this year. I will post photos as soon as I get help in next week to move the old double hung windows leaning against it.
Any suggestions, pointers, etc., would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum Lake ! Get yourself a good light climb right in there, and snap a few pictures of the grates also.

Make sure you supply us with some details on your chimney also.

I grew up with an old octopus at home as I'm sure many of our members did.

Is all of the duct work still intact?

Paulie

Chimney needs to be taken down to the roof line and rebuilt.
No, the arms are gone but I'm assuming that will be the easiest to replace.
Will get some photos online tomorrow. Thanks!
