Wanted something different.Yes its blackpowder, enlarging picture in link gives good pic. Trying to find shoulder harness for it, Triple-K has one but finding it in stock anywheres isn't going so well. Might have to look for local leather worker to make one. Or Oldtrading Post... but they are just as exspensive or more than pistol and custom made.

Hard to believe it can be had at that price. We're going to need the video of her maiden voyage.

I have the Ruger Old Army. Doesn't have the brass trigger guard like that one.
If you shoot it, be sure to put Vaseline in the end of all the cylinders so that you don't have 3 go off at one time like I did, LOL.

Got bore butter to dab over balls when loaded, plus lubed wads. Going to be using powderdex 30Gr pellets to start(solid propellant). First thing will be to completely clean it, all packing oils out of it, nipples, cylinders, then see how it operates, cylinder rotation/barrel alignment, hammer action and such before even loading.
Nice in PA, no FFL license or backround check required on black powder firearms.

You know you can BUILD your own gun ... eliminate all that PLUS no record of you even having the gun.wilder11354 wrote:Got bore butter to dab over balls when loaded, plus lubed wads. I know.... got one that way now, plus spares to build another... looking at 1911 for next one. Over the course of the year. 80% frames, machine, and piece by piece build.

Hey SWPaDon, I use the pyrodex pellets, with lube wad, and .451 balls. ?? will the lube on wads cause powder/propellant contamination if left loaded for any period of time(weeks at a time)? Second, balls don't push in with much resistance, should I try the .457 blls for a snugger fit, and use non lubed wads for long time loaded(minus caps of course)storage, but rady to use when cappped?SWPaDon wrote:I have the Ruger Old Army. Mine is just a toy that my inlaws got me for a Christmas present. I just used regular round balls in it when I shot it. The last time I shot it was about 15 years ago.
I've also got a 50 cal. flintlock rifle that I've never fired. That was a gift also.

the bigger the round ball the better it should shave off a ring of lead approximately .002 +/- when seating on top of powder. then top with stiff lube. you can then store ready to cap. keep in cool dry place with barrel down
