For those of you that have a Harman SF150 or SF250 stove, do they use the same exact grate? I know the SF250 has more grates but was wondering if they are interchangeable. Also are they the same grates as any of the MK series? Thanks!

I have a mark 2 and an SF-250, and have rebuilt a couple inserts. I'm 99% sure all the sf/mark series use the same grate (the marks for sure.) I never tried interchanging the mark 2 to the SF but they look identical, and it would make sense that Harman used the same grates for all their hand fireds. If you're not in a hurry I can tell you for sure in a couple weeks when my wife decides heating season is over :D

Thanks. I was thinking it would make sense to use the same grates. For some reason I think the MKl grates may be smaller. But mostly I was hoping the SF150 and SF250 shared grates with the MKll and MKlll. I'm shopping for an affordable SF150. And no I'm not in a hurry. If you could compare them when the season is over that would be grate....er great.

Did a little more checking and it looks like the SF150 and SF250 use the same 15" grate as the Mark l. The Mark ll and Mark lll use a 20" grate.

I checked one of the parts places and see that you're right. Sorry for the bad guess work. Ya think I would've noticed the 5" difference.

The good news is those grates for discontinued stoves will be readily available for a long time as they are the same ones used for current mark l stoves. That was my concern.

Nice - it's a good thing when they engineer stuff like that.

Just an FYI for anyone reading: the Mark I has 2 grates, I believe the Mark II does as well (not sure there), the Mark III has 3 grates, and I believe the SF series has 5. Coalkirk can confirm that ....

Yes, the mark l has two 15" grates, mark ll has two 20" grates, the mark lll has three 20" grates. The SF250 has five 15" grates. I think the SF150 is a tad smaller so I'm guessing it has four 15" grates but not sure.

Coalkirk,

Sf-150's and Sf-250's both have 5 grates. The 250 is a wider stove than the 150 so the grates are not the same size.

The Harman HXL stoves which preceded the SF stoves are sometimes referred to as 150's in error. HXL's have four grates and no header tubes. The SF series has four tubes in the spiral flame chamber and five grates in the fire box.
