That's great man! I remember when I first started burning coal. I was so proud that I had kept the same fire for 3 days that I was freaking glowing.
Especially since my wife was certain we would all freeze to death after I tore out the pro pain furnace hahaha

Season 2 (a newbie; still learning), but one match! Lit the stove on Halloween Eve while waiting for trick or treaters (got none!), and it's been warming us since! Mild weather has me back to one tending per 24 hours, so we are on easy street!

This forum is like gold. Wish I knew a lot of what I know now back in the mid 1980's when I bought my stove.
Three seasons in a row on one match now. Thats starting with wood, then coal, and back to wood to finish off the season.
Looks like about two more weeks until it's back to wood for this year.

Something I dream of. I had to do the drive of shame tonight on my way home from work...Walmart for charcoal to get my fire lit again. I can sometimes get two or three weeks and then I'll lose it. I took four quite full ash pans full of residue last night when I cleaned it out. Four!
It's not like I don't shake it down and prod it, I do, but where it hides is anyone's guess. It was dead last night and I tried lighting it with wood due to my charcoal deficiency. No go. She is blazing now, though.
What I don't understand is I probably have as smooth a firepot as anyone could ask for but the stuff still don't want to move toward the bottom. I will persevere!
