Well Hitzer did replace my eaten up hopper once (and tried to re-enforce the orig design with a 1" 1/4" plate pieces welded at the bottom of the hopper area).

They did not have to, it was out of warranty. So that was nice.

But the modified removable hopper also got eaten away...I had to pay for next one (like $100 tops) and I welded SS to the rear section of the hopper before this season started; I'll see the results soon. (My 70 buck mig welder from harbor freight earned its keep right there lol bzzzz bzzzz bzzz lol)

Dealt with Dean (who else, right?) at Hitzer.

My fan went out ~ and Hitzer wanted 250 bucks (no freebie there, out of warranty) (ouch) luckily I found a 25 dollar fan (right side went out) that fit that side...for the left side I'd be farting around with the cheap 25 dollar fan to get it to fit on the left (as facing the unit).

And the hole in the rear of the firebox I noted early in this heating season? Hitzer did not want to do anything about that last time I contacted them. But I intend on contacting them at end of season again and send them more pics..more corrosion issue...and see. If I cannot get Hitzer to do anything then its back to my 90amp welder bzzz bzzz bzzzz.

So warranty stuff? I've seen good and bad. Maybe good later :)

It cost 5 grand for unit and install in 2008 or 2009 ... so I keep an eye on Return on Investment. I don't think I could sell the stove I got now ... with the hole in the firebox area.

I'd like to go stoker myself but wifey is concerned about power outage (has not happened in winter for over 10 yrs)...might have to get a new wifey too !

Search his posts.
Its very very easy ... slides onto/off rails .. once a 9/16" bolt and nut is removed (which is easy access in the front/top of hopper (accessed after removing filling "plate") and in the firebox, front of hopper). I've done it with the stove running. Don't forget to wear gloves if its even warmer than room temp....safety safety...

Awaiting OP's results with Hitzer with interest.
