One option is to address the ground water rather than try to figure out how to drive across the swamp.

WOW Rob, you got it. I need a $100,000 350HP Caterpillar dozer and underground drainage lines. So just before I get my Deere mower going for another boring day, please send me pics of your monster so I can dream a little. It helps the monotony.

It would be foolish for you to buy a drainage machine...but depending on what you can do with the land to earn a return, hiring a drainage contractor to tile the field may be a wise decision. In my area most guys are able to get a ROI in 3 years if growing corn or soybeans.coalnewbie wrote:WOW Rob, you got it. I need a $100,000 350HP Caterpillar dozer and underground drainage lines. Probably would need the entire 1200 sq. ft. for that monster that Rob has.

I've done the maths, I lose $50 per horse per month. Increased volume only means you lose more per head. Here is the maths question: How many horses do I have to have to break even?.but depending on what you can do with the land to earn a return

New business plan: Sell every horse you can, give away the rest. Tile the 35 acres, grow some premium horse hay, and sell the bales to the folks that bought the horses.
As for the dozer, my brother owns it, not me. He has a 40x40' shop that he manages to squeeze the dozer into.
