Real journalistic responsibility.
Pathetic.

So what would you have us do if you were President?.....Arrest him? (I'm serious....give it a bit of thought)
Let him do a tour embed with the military in Afghanistan. Let him see the good our military does & report on it.

You didn't answer my question? (or did you mean you would arrest him & force him to goto Afghanistan?)

Well you can't yell fire in a building. How about making him go on al jazeera TV & do a mea culpa & then pulling his journalism credentials. His should go the way of Dan Rather.

OK....I guess that's my answer....In your country there would be no free press or you can be arrested. How about free speech...Should we do away with that too? Freedom of religeon? (just yours allowed?)
Doesn't bare much resemblance to the country I grew up in. I don't think I'd wanna live in your police state...thank you very much!

Truman fired MaCarthur because he repeatedly, publicaly threatened to drop the A-Bomb on China......A clear threat which could have forced the Red Chinese to possibly borrow nuclear weapons from their friend..the Soviet Union & use them against our troops. Hardly the same thing as merely disagreeing with a President. Plus....MacArthur was the only general to be fired bye Truman....Bush makes a habit of firing almost every military & civilian who doesn't agree with him.

He never threatened to use them because he could not. Only the President can authorize their use. He WANTED to use them. That aside, it was his big mouth. Generals are no different than privates, they need to follow the orders they are given like any other soldier. He was told to keep his mouth shut and he didn't, that is why he was fired, he did not follow the orders his commander in chief gave him.

Truman didn't have to fire any others because they did what they were told.

More SPIN & you are welcome. As a conservative I want less government. Police state is more a liberal thing. The left loves Cuba , Venezuela, .....

What does the military think of the press? IMO this soldier should be awarded an immediate promotion.

"Check out this soldier's fingers. This AP photo was quickly pulled down. Apparently some of the soldiers don't have warm fuzzies for the press."

The AP photo was quickly pulled down??? Why? Was there too many Iraqi children in the background enjoying the fact that American troops are there protecting them? That's probably it...AP doesn't want the American public to think that Iraqi civilians actually like having us there...that would be bad press.

Come on...It's 2008 not 1968.....Nowadays the press has only one agenda: Print/Show only things that will Make Money!

Example I have used before: In the 1960's CBS news was it's own division & not expected to turn a profit by managment. Now CBS News falls under the "Entertainment Division" & is expected to show a profit like any other sitcom.

I have my own theories/opinions (and I know they are just opinions)...
I fully agree the more commercials the more money...the better the ratings the more companies will want to advertise...

Opinion...the more the republicans want to smear bad press on the other parties...the more $$$ the republicans will spend in specific republican media outlets...now replace the word "republican" with democrat, then with reformists, then with libertarian, then with constitutionalist, then with...purplepeopleeaters...

Ads bring in money...so do special interest groups.
