Smart guy, Newt, no doubt. But highly corrosive; the '94 "Republican Revolution" was his brainchild, and most mark it as the beginning of the hyper-partisanship which voters have been turning away from since 2006. After so long in the minority, Newt might have been understood for wanting to "break some china" in taking control of Congress. And he sure did.

But, as it turned out, his boyz turned out to be not one bit more ethical in their use of that power than the Democrats had been; not only did they prove just as corrupt and partisan, they abandoned the truly conservative principles that they'd run on and, once they got a President of their own party, set records for spending our money.

Thankfully, it'll soon be over. Just look at the voter turnout and money raised this primary season.

Not so. General Jackson fought in the Mexican American war in Mexico in the late 1840's or early 1850's. Sorry, I watch the history channel when I'm not on the coal forum.

Ah.......but isn't Mexico our 51st State? (or maybe I have that backwards!  )
Either way, it's easier to cross the Mexican border than it is for me to cross over into Rhode Island! ;)

Iraq's Prime Minister Maliki seems to be smarter than the American media, the lib's & some on this forum. Go figure. :D

Whaddaya mean, "smarter?"

Do you really think our impending election has nothing to do with the Iraqi gov't finally getting off the tit?

It's great news; every such act of self-reliance puts us another step closer to getting the flock outta there.

If they're really smart, they'll knock all of this off till we can get the hell outta there.

Then I don't care if they form a circle and spill all they want.

If you watch clips of the actual street fighting, the Iraqi soldiers have to be pushed into the battle....Or more accurately...pulled by US GI's! (10 US GI's killed just yesterday)

Why would you watch? There is nothing the General would say that would please you.

You can use this in your post after the hearings, "Bush's military mouth piece". :(
