No you should not without knowing more about it and how it might fit your needs. It's only some of the antique stoves that are outstanding.

I didn't know if it was a BB or not. I see the hookup for the back pipe but couldn't find much info on the stove. I'll give them a call.

Any pictures of this stove?

I'm very fond of Smith & Anthony stoves - I have two. Since it's an Oak, by definition it's not a base heater or burner. I almost bought a Hub Oak 218 up in Vermont last winter. They're beautiful stoves, but the one I looked at had a draw grate - not pyramid grates. From experience, I'm not overly fond of draw grates.

I've attached a picture of a nice Hub Oak 314. They were direct draft with a decorative cast back pipe added, which is not functional.

Does the Jr 117 look anything like this stove?

I almost bought one of these Hub Jr's down in Boston (Newton) a year or so ago.

The guy wanted $200. It's a cheaper version of their Oak, direct draft and rather small. I found the castings kind of clunky.

If you do get it, keep it on the inexpensive side. I doubt grates are available, so the ones with it must be good - recast them for a spare set, if possible.

If you can ever find a Hub Heater circulator stove with back pipe - get it - they're fantastic heaters. I paid $600 for mine and it was well worth it. Emery restored it to perfection in 2013.

I'm going to give her a call and see what kind of money she is interested in getting out of it. If the price is right I may very well snag it up.

I'm preaching coal to whomever will listen and one of these days someone is going to catch the fever much the same way we have. I'll have a stove for them when they do.
