Spring time shutdown for your Chubby Stove. Quick and easy!

After removing all of the coal from the firepot, give your stove a quick shop vac. Run the vac throughout the inside of the stove. Leave 1” of ash under the ash pan for next season. Crumble up enough newspaper to fit into the flue from the inside of the stove to prevent summer down drafting and chimney odors. Close the turn damper. Pretty easy!

It isn't a bad idea to add some kitty litter to the ash pan or a product like Turface. This will help absorb any moisture during the idle months.

For those that want to give their Chubby a fresh paint job without taking your unit outide try this.......If you can put down enough newspaper to give your stove surroundings protection you can freshen it up with some Rust-oleum. Be sure to open the windows first. Below is the aftermarket product I recommend. The Ultra is for the cast iron and the regular is for the stove body. You can cover the mica from the outside with some small pieces of paper towel or just remove it.

Of course we would love to hear from our customers and thier season ending shutdown methods :D

Enjoy your summer see you next fall. Thanks for your business and your support. LT
