For four tons of nut coal the price per ton is $280.00 (just coal) ..... this is lower than their pricing in Sept. 2014 if I recall correctly.
Santa Claus coal.

Blaschak Coal- Nut, Pea & Rice
Discount Price:$280 ton (60 bag skid) $336
(Cash or check payment)
Regular Price: $289 ton (60 Bag skid) $347 Last Sept I paid $360. 00 Per Skid - 60 bags - 2400 pounds
50 bags per ton or 60 bags per skid
Remember I live in Iowa, That's a long way from Pennsylvania via truck. This year the price has increased $3.00 to a new price of $363.00 per skid.
In comaparison I believe I'm getting a good deal living half way across the country. So I've ordered 10 Skids

Yes Sir - that price is all inclusive, that is a total price including freight. I think the total order is 3 to 4 semi loads of 18 skids per truck, delivered to one location in Sept.
I talked with the buyer this weekend and the order must be placed by the first of June to lock in the price & delivery.
The majority is used by his green house operation, the balance is sold to other Amish in the area and to English like myself. I will be purchasing a five year supply so in the event my supply is cut off I will have time to make alternate plans. I burn 2 skids this past heating season so 10 skids will last me 5 years if I encounter a supply interruption.
When I pencil it out I'm spending $3,630.00 to heat five years, the same fuel cost at todays prices * burning LP would cost me $10,890.00. That's a guaranteed savings in the next 5 years of $7,260.00. I know of no Bank or investment that will net me that much in 60 months - (non taxable)
I plan on replacing each year what I burn and maintaining my backup supply. I don't see LP pricing going down in the future and I've grown fond of being warm and tending a coal fire as the winter winds whip around this old farm house... .

Hey John, if you put some insulation in them thar walls, and cover some of them gaps, I'll bet next season you could get away with just 1 skid.
(P.S. Where's your chimney?)

The stove is what we call a "Direct Venting system" a six foot piece of block stove pipe pointed toward the ceiling venting directly to the outside.
Makes it easy to drag a hot stove into the room you want to heat.
