Contacted BT Burn enterprises ... 21 APR 15

For four tons of nut coal the price per ton is $280.00 (just coal) ..... this is lower than their pricing in Sept. 2014 if I recall correctly.

Santa Claus coal.

I was wondering what they were going to come in at this year.

I ordered from them, 1 skid, a few years back. I think I'd have to order at least 4 maybe 5 to make the price worth the delivery charge.

where have you ordered from before?

I called Eastern Ice in MA today ... $290 ton for coal ... for 4 tons, delivery to New London, CT was $70 (seems to have gone up a little). So for 4 tons (nut) delivered = $1230 This would be bagged (50# bags) of Reading

BT does have relatively high delivery costs, I called them for delivery cost to New London, CT for 4 tons and cost was $130.
So for 4 tons delivered = ($280 times 4) + $130 = $1250 This would be for bagged (40# bags) Blashack (sp?) Santa Claus coal

So not a significant difference in price of coal. The 40# bags are easier on the back and I prefer Santa Claus coal (although I have gotten nut that was much smaller, hence less high-heat-producing, in the past whereas Reading, while having a wider particle distribution, generally has larger particle sized nut coal, allowing easier high heat in cold months) the wifey prefers Reading. I ran both nut suppliers coal this season.

Not me...but one can call them. I doubt it though...not enough volume, would be a "special order" if they would even do it.

Lets us know. stove coal lovers love their stove coal, I know that.

Worked with them a lot. Reliable on time delivery on tar or concrete. the delivery price per pallet goes down a lot when you do 3-4 plus pallets, believe 6 is the max for their truck. Ordering it now gives it time to dry out nicely with the shrink wrap removed. Make sure you order what you really want since uping the pallet # last minute may not be possible on the scheduled date due two deliveries on same day, same truck.

Move closer ! Arggggg.

I can't - not after Sandy Hook. The CT legislature caught a case of moonbattitis after that happened, and started trampling 2A rights even worse than it had before. MA is bad enough as it is ... :(

BT quoted me a $150 delivery charge for 3 pallets (1.2 tons each) of Blaschak last year so even at $280 a ton their price is higher then I'm going to pay for coal. Thanks to Tractor Supplies Kimmel pricing last Fall I'm good for next Winter. If they do it again this Fall I'll grab some more.

$150 ? That's excessive. I'll remember that and if they quote me that I'll make an issue of it.

I went to the tractor supply ... none in stock. You must have gotten there earlier than me. How did it burn? Sounds like it burned fine.

I bought 3 tons @ TS over a 7 day period last October. Lots of folks hauling away pellets but the coal was pretty much all mine. The Kimmel nut is sized larger/more uniform then the 2013 Blaschak I burnt this past Winter & no excessive fines in either. The Kimmel burns a bit hotter so I mixed them 50/50 in the hopper all Winter to get a more even burn. Haven't opened a bag of my 2014 Blaschak yet to see how it compares to the Kimmel.
