I use silver high temp never seize, coat the latch engagement surfaces, work it in and remove the excess with a paper towel. The never seize gets into the tiny irregularities of the metal and won't ever melt off with heat (is good to 1200*F). Just be careful not to leave any excess on the surfaces you can touch!
"Never-Seez" brand anti-seize products are great products but depending on the grade can be expensive. The nickel and graphite based version is good to 2400 deg F! Check the reference for the various types so you know what you are paying for.
