Opera no longer supports Linux in its current releases, but you can run an older version. Don't hold me to this, but I believe (off hand) that the latest few renditions of Opera have been built upon Chrome (as opposed to using the original autonomous core developed by the Opera team).D-frost wrote:jpete,
With mint 17, which browser do you have? Mint 10 comes with 'Firefox', but I like 'Opera'-(faster). Once you adapt to mint, I think you'll throw Microsoft into the trash can! Congrats on the download.
Cheers

There may be an issue with USB but only because of drivers which may not be loaded. When you boot your computer the first screen that comes up usually will tell you what key to press to enter the BIOS. It's usually F8 or something. This is what is run before the OS loads.jpete wrote:
How would I make a bootable USB anyway???
Look for the boot menu, by default it's usually I set to boot from CD/DVD and then C. If you see USB listed enable it and move it before CD/DVD.
When you turn the computer on it will look at those drives in that order to see if there is any bootable media. For example if your removed CD/DVD from the list it would go right to C. I do this on purpose because it speeds up boot slightly.

I changed it to C: a long time ago because of exactly what you said. Right now it's set to boot from USB first, then go to C:Richard S. wrote:There may be an issue with USB but only because of drivers which may not be loaded. I had hard time getting XP and 7 to play nice, I actually gave up. The dual boot screen wouldn't come up, I'd have to manually change what drive to boot from.jpete wrote:

The drive I have supports UEIF and I'm pretty sure that was the issue.

Well that was relatively painless. I let Mint do all the work and so far, she's dual booting. Haven't tried Win 7 yet, but we'll see how it goes.
Thanks for the help guys.

Never had a malware problem when downloaded from the source, if it was a third party download all bets are off.jpete wrote:I've used this before. Not sure where it went but isn't on my computer. Maybe I'll send you a USB drive to do the same.

I think I just have to junk these HP discs. I fight with them every time I try to burn something. Sometimes I make a mistake and am actually successful.
