I am looking at my burner pot and the gooseneck assembly looks like it has damage to the area around where the auger tube enters. Like it has part of the casting missing.
I posted this also in my EFM 520 thread but I fear I got lost and no one saw it.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

It is not damaged. That "hole" should be aligned with the holes drilled in the auger pipe, and allows for proper venting of the gasses from the fire end of the auger pipe. The space shown in your picture is larger than I am used to seeing, but it should operate fine with the auger pipe in place.

Thanks Rob I was thinking that I had a problem, that makes sense that it would allow the gases to escape.

I found a few other things that may need attention.
4 of the 6 burner plates have a small crack and the boiler DHW coil must have been leaking and caused some pitting.
I plan to put some weld material in the depressions and have a plate fabricated for a good seal since I will not need the 5 gpm coil that was removed.
Not sure if I can get by with the cracked burner plates or will replacements be required.

Plates should be replaced. I would clean up that coil surface and see if it can be sealed with a new gasket and a smear of RTV.
