How far does a MPD need to be from the outlet of a stove? The outlet in question is on the top of the stove.

I don't believe there is a set distance. Some stoves have one built right into the breech on the stove. Mine is 12 inches from the stove.

Between the stove and chimney, just put it in the most convenient place. Some like it view because they forget, some like it up close and personal. It will do its job no matter where it is in the pipe.

Indeed! Mine is 3' up cause I'm tall.
