Here it is May 13 and it is 50 degrees outside. It was 60 inside. Our 18 year old cat won't get off the heating pad we put down for him and the wife turned on the electric blanket. I used some eco bricks to get a fire started and put some wood on. She won't get out of the bed until I get the house warmed up. Good thing I didn't clean out the stove right away when I first shut it down.

Sometimes procrastination works to your advantage

It won't do me any good however because I have to go out and replace the broken sway bar link on my 99 subaru. It pops, bumps, and groans a lot but keeps going. I discovered this when I was setting up to change the strut which is shot. It was one of those things like what is it about this picture that doesn't look right? Then I spotted it.

The wood is starting to catch and I can feel a little warmth coming off the stove. It's only supposed to get up to 60 today with a low of 40 yep 40 tonight.

Good you have some of those wooden bricks to take off the chill there, Rev. Chilly winds for 3 days....only 52 here right now...frost advisory tonight/early am on thur.....Where is that damned groundhawg!!!!!

Gotcha outdoor temps beat by one degree Don. :D

House electric heat kicked on this morning. First thought was, Oh no, I'm not paying for that with a few tons of coal still sitting in the bin!

Coal range went back to work this morning. I'm spoiled after 8 months of warmth indoors. Too damp and chilly now,... and we're supposed to be going below freezing tonight.

38 here this morning also. I lit the Vigi on wood yesterday and threw a couple of logs in when we went to bed. This morning had some embers, threw in some small stuff, got a flame added some larger logs and I have a nice low fire this morning. Living room is 70, bath and bedrooms upstairs are a nice 68. Momma is asleep under her electric blanket. Changed out the broken sway bar link on my 99 Subaru yesterday, did some tilling in the garden, bought some tomato plants and veggie seeds to put in it. Our 18 year old cat is sleeping on his heating pad next to the stove and I'm sipping some hot coffee.

All is right with the world again at least until the sun comes up and I start the day all over again. :)

28 F here this morning.

So nice to come down stairs, with the house warm and the water in the tea kettle is hot.

Doubly nice not hearing the furnace running either ! ;)
