You might want to read the thread in the "Connecticut" section of this forum just to get a little more information.

Misleading & incorrect information for the most part.

Not to start a war or anything, but I wouldn't go that far. Unless of course you were actually there on both occasions that were listed, and were witness to what transpired.

As far as I can tell after reading through & posting in that thread I'm the only person who did post in that thread who has actually done business with Preston. I've bought two stoves from them including a 50-93 which the OP of this thread is interested in. I've also been to all the other stove stores in the R.I./Eastern Ct. region & that is why I recommended that the OP visit Preston.

The others (in the other thread) couldn't 'do business' as they were turned away.

According to them.

I bought my stove there and other stove stuff. If a guy wants to see a wood stove or pellet stove in action, they have lots. I think that they have one coal stove ... far away from the pellet stoves on the other side of the store. Not burning , just sitting there.

Are you really complaining because they don't have fires burning in their new stoves. I don't recall seeing any of their Jotuls blazing away when I was in there either. Who cares? None of the wood or coal stove stores I visited had active fires burning for display.

When I visited the Hitzer dealer in Johnston, R.I. he had one 30-95 on the floor & 4-5 Reading stoves. If I had wanted to buy a 50-93 from him it had to be ordered & he quoted list price. When I visited the Harman dealer in Warwick, R.I. 2 years ago I wanted to check out the Mark 2 & 3 they had none but lots of pellet & wood stoves. Preston actually had a 50-93 on display & new ones in the warehouse. His price for the stove w/blowers was over $400 lower then the other dealer.

No, I am not complaining about that .... just giving information so if people go there an may be expecting or visiting to see a coal stove to be in operation, they will not be disappointed. That's all in respect to my previous post.

I did business with them when I lived in Bristol CT. All I will say is they pushed heavily on those stupid pellet stoves (as most dealers do). Had a pellet stove years ago. Would never pay that kind of $ now for stove, pellets and repairs. Not to mention the constant maintenance.

You moved out? You're missing all the fun here in CT now ....

But your observations I would agree with....maybe if folks pelletized all their coal fines then they might be more excited about coal
