new politics forum

While browsing the "off topic" section it occurred to me that maybe we should have a separate politics forum, like where the flame one is.

I'll be adding a few forums once I make the big move. :shh:

This forum is either getting moved to a subdomain or its own domain. Not sure which yet but its going to happen very soon as I want to make sure if I screw anything up with the search engines it has plenty of time to recover over the summer. That shouldn't happen but is possible.

I'll move into full swing adding a lot of stuff so the new urls' only get indexed there, I'm still have few loose ends I want to fix with original package. The short explanation is I want a prepackaged forum I can set up on other sites with all the basic modifications I've been making included, by only working on this package I don't have to edit two sets of files. I'm about at point where I have to fork it into two separate packages because many of the modifications I've been waiting on will not be standard features.

Thats great will we be able to have the choice of blocking it and the posts to it out like the Flamesuit area. I've seen more than a couple of forums destroyed by political type threads they always seem to end up in the same type of place.

While I detest censorship the forums that seem to have the best longevity ban political discussion and chronic off topic threads altogether and posts or threads of that nature are deleted immediately .

No hand slapping or lectures just POOF thread gone, everybody gets the hint after a bit

I think political off topic forums are good to have. All of us here mainly enjoy coal & coalstove related topics but it is nice to be able to switch gears & discuss politics, firearms, plannes. technology, etc from time to time. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with & many benefits too these off topic subjects.Noone is forced to read/post to them & most forum members are capable of debating sometimes emotional subjects without getting into juvenile "food fights".

Well it won't be completely sperate, sam e login etc. twill just have the appearance of being seperate. For example if you look up at the breadcrumb trail on the top:

Code: Select all
Board index ‹ Anthracite Coal Forums ‹ Feedback, Help Desk & FAQ

Anthracite coal Forums is its own link: Energy, Anthracite & Bituminous Coal, HVAC

So instead of on the front page a listing for every forum there will be a listing for Anthacite Coal Forums, A yet unamed genral topic forum, another unamed general topic forum and anaother aunamed general topic forum. Each forum will have listing for the subforums on the front page. Sound cmplicated but not really, you can see an exmaple of this is ins action on http://www.phpbb.com/community/

From my example above the "Anthrcite coal Forum would be similar to their 3.0.x Modifications Forums , not the subformus listed below. When you click the link directly you'll get listing of all the sub forums. Or you can click a subforum directly from the main page. In essence I'll be able to jam more links onto single page because the subforum links are smaller sized text and dont have description. They have their own post icons too so that won't change.

The front page will have other new features added as I get to them. First up will be the wiki followed by some others. Since I'll have more room on the front page I'll be able to add al ot... such as random images from the new file gallery . :D All in time.

If you don't like new stuff... don't look at it. The anthrcite coal forum will be accessible from one link: Energy, Anthracite & Bituminous Coal, HVAC
