Can anyone explain to me what the difference is between the
KAA-2, KAA4-1 direct vented models compared to
the KAA-2 or KAA-4-1 models with the bottom flue opening??

Is there second induced draft fan or is it simply a case of the unit
being plumbed through the wall in a clay thimble to an elbow with
a metal stack with a rain cap?

Thoughts on a humid and rainy tuesday morning.

One needs no chimney...the other one does. One you put the stove/boiler near the existing chimney location, the other you can put on any outside wall.

But more to your point, the lower outlet can be a problem with a power loss to a electric driven exhaust, so therefore the raised outlet, and even the small amount of natural draft after power-loss (stoker & fans) will better still clear the firebox of smoke and carbon monoxide from outlet being located higher up than having to exhausting from a low outlet.

Sales volumes are even greater if everybody w/o a chimney can get in the game also. :)

A "real chimney" cares NOT if the electric is lost. ;)
