Don! What is the deal with the wiring going to the aquastat? Sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest.
As usual, I leave the wiring for last. So, that means since I know how to do wiring, I take all the shortcuts I can so I can get it fired!

Don't worry, I have to rewire the aquastat anyway, I don't have the timer wired through the ZR terminal yet for over temp protection.

Running 4 teeth and 4.5 air. I posted a Youtube video of the first fire. Boiler came up to temp and the stoker shut off a couple minutes after the video ended.

What are you using for gear lube in the pan? The ratchet sounds pretty loud.

Also, your clean out lever is on backwards.

The oil bath has SAE 30 weight in it right now. Everything sounds louder than it really is in the video.

WHOOPS!, Your right Rob, it is backwards. Oh well its not hard to fix that. It still opens and closes, that's the main thing.

Thank you for posting the thrust washer measurements. For some reason on this one the drum gear needs to be spaced out a lot to get the worm bushing in the pot bushing. When it was apart, spacing the thrust washer was the only thing I could find that would fix it. Right now I have the new thrust washer stacked on the old thrust washer.

It is possible that something else is not the correct dimension. Air pipe, coupling from clutch shaft to auger, etc. If the thrust washer doesn't get things in the right spot you could always make a custom coupling, or drill a new hole in the end of the clutch shaft.

At some point I will check to see it the auger and clutch shaft are butting up against each other. If not, I could drill another hole in the coupling.

After it ran for a couple hours this morning I filled the barrel.

This after noon, I installed the fines clean out lever the correct way and wired in the hour meter. The reading is 1194.6 hours.

Sometimes the motor makes some really strange rattling noises. I have this Yellow Flame motor standing by just in case. I hope it fits.

I have only found one leak so far. It's the DHW zone valve to ball valve connection. Odd place for a leak, both are brass and were tightened up good before install. It's minor, a drip and hour or so.

Not bad for the first day. I am very happy to be back on coal fired hot water!

The old Gentleman is still going, no problems so far.

The reading now is 1198.1 hours. The stoker ran for 3.5 hours since whenever I hooked up the meter yesterday.

Not much ash in the pan. I will pull the fines lever tomorrow to see how bad that is.

The draft is pretty low, .01 at idle. I won't run at full fire on a DHW load so we will check that later.

Yet another shameless coal stoker video!

Your Yellow Flame motor will fit. It is just 33% larger horse power than you need.

Thanks for the info Scott! I don't have a lot of EFM spares lay'in around, at least I have a motor I can use. Check out the video above. You can hear the motor noise.

You might have to wait a few minutes It hasn't uploaded yet.

Day 3. Stoker ran for 3.2 hours. 3.2 x 9 pounds per hour = 28.8 pounds over the past day. That seems like a lot. It's running 2.5 minutes every 30 minutes on the timer. That = 120 minutes = 2 hours a day just on the timer. I think I will trim that down a bit.

I pulled the fines clean out lever today. Not much came out. I guess everything is OK. That was 3 days worth.

I posted another video. This one I tried to get the fines clean out in, I should have put a drop light in there so you could actually see it though!

Reducing the timer will probably help, but that is still a lot of uninsulated boiler heating the garage.

Yes it is. This one doesn't seem to be overheating the garage like the Losch did.

I got a full set of jackets that are in decent shape with the GJ. After I get bored of looking at it I will re-do the jackets and insulation. The GJ's actually look nice with the jackets on.

Got to re-do the wiring first!

SD,I think you need to find quick couplers like is used on hydraulic cylinders for farm equipment. That way ,every time you get the notion or boiler flu,you can easily unhook & couple to the next boiler of whatever color you decide next. That would allow you to work on more of them all yr long, you could test several during the winter instead of waiting for the off season as you do now. Waiting to see what the next paint/stripe scheme is. :) :)
