If you want to see a real cast iron one I know where there is one in the Berkshires. ;) Go to Albany and take a right.

Maybe I will. Not this time of year though, my little trip up to coal country yesterday was enough to kick my be-hind!

That being said, I was trying to rest and recuperate today. I got as far as late afternoon. Then I started looking for radiators on CL, I didn't find many. Then I thought,"I have that abandon Boiler Mate zone in the garage, I can hook my radiator to that!"

So here it is, my first radiator install. It's not pretty, I didn't even clean it, I just nailed it in there with some PEX.

For right now I just have the switch for the Taco 007 turned ON. To make it real easy to control, I have a 120 volt thermostat that I can connect to the old Boiler Mate connection. Then the pump will be thermostatically controlled.

Well now it's at least doing something other than taking up space under the bench!

That's what the vent is for at the top of the last section.

Okay, I seen the plug. Just vent out the plug then?

You open it with a radiator key.

I wish I had a radiator key! I had to use needle nose pliers.

10 degrees this morning, howling wind. The garage is 65 degrees. This may be working a little to good.

Minus a radiator key, try a socket. Some screwdrivers that allow you to change bits have the same size square socket.

Don, you can get a radiator key for a few bucks on Amazon or at your local supply house.

No T-stat yet H.B. Just an idling boiler on the LO limit and the pump to the rad running until I turn it off. In a previous thread we determined that this radiator puts out about 9,500 BTU at 180 degrees. Lo limit is set at 150 degrees. What ever that works out to be, it's enough.

I posted a short dizzying video of the GJ and radiator.

Also, I wanted to clean the glass before the video and I found that a razor blade works great! The glass looks new.

Why thank you Larry! I'm glad you enjoyed it on this very cold evening.

It's a shame you can't put a fire view door on the AHS!
