After I stacked the coal I was leaving bagged, I took a scissors and stabbed all the bags quite a few times. That should help dry it some, if its stored in a dry place. If your storing outside, Im not sure what you could do.

I just posted this experience in another thread, but will say I too just got my 1st skid of TSC "no name" coal, (but durable plastic bags, I will agree with). After scanning every inch of the bags and invoice, it turns out it's "Reading" coal. we'll see how the Glenwood likes it when the time comes. Can anyone else vouch for the integrity of this brand?

Hi joeq, long time "no type" toothy ...anyway I hope your experience is better than mine with bagged Reading a couple yrs ago. Lots of fines, water and sticks, I think I even got a blackened, roughed up Pamper diaper!

I did talk recently to someone close to the workings at the Reading bagging operation back a year or two ago that admitted there was some bagging of still frozen coal, which when frozen and bagged it will let very few fines separate from the sized coal and hence...there were lots of fines and then the ice did add extra water making for very sloppy wet bags.

This type of event sticks in the craw of us coal burners...hopefully their reputation can get mended...time will tell.

That makes sense with the 1400 pounds I dumped into a bin. As I mentioned earlier it seemed like every 5th bag had fines, the others not as bad.

Michaelanthony mentioned the diaper was blackened and roughed up. Im thinking it was "loaded" from the threads joeq mentioned. Yes, LOTS of BTU's!

Just out of curiosity, has it been definitively determined that TSC is in fact buying all of their coal from Reading?

I've had much more fines burning Blazchek...over the years.. since I switched to TSC (kimmels then Lehieh ) I haven't had much...
Haven't burn't the new TSC brand yet but water is at a minimum if any at all. And I don't care if it does or will have some crap in it once in a great while... worth the savings over my local suppliers who are much more money then ones down south 50 miles or so.

Only the RICE size is labeled Reading, to my knowledge. :)

And Lehigh has NOT bagged any for this 2016-17 season of either of the 2 sizes carried by TSC, that of either rice or nut.

I regress :| after a search I found my original post involving the diaper...I owe Reading an apology.

"....about a month ago I found a coal dust blackened diaper in a bag of blaschack stove coal ( I should have taken a pic. ), I dropped what I was doing, tripped over my coal bucket, stubbed my slipper wearing toe, and jammed a finger on the dryer while running upstairs shouting....THE ALIENS WORE DIAPERS, THE ALIENS WORE DIAPERS!!!!!!"
