Have you ever witnessed or participated in a heated discussion at dinner with an Italian or Greek family LOL? That is a fiasco this is just wandering around a bit. It is a subject we all care about, next winters coal and saving money either for other things or to have to work less. Hey at least no one is breaking dinner plates on the floor LOL.coalfan wrote:this is turning into last years fiasco !!

I was told if it was after the 26th they would not honor even if it was their fault.alpineboard wrote:I went into Plymouth NH Tractor supply and tried to do the pre order, as it is , today, the first day of the pre order, today being July 6.
Well, they do not have any coal at the premises yet, and so they do not know what bag size it will come in, 40 pound or 50 pound. But they do have the 1100817 sku as 40 pound for $5.99 in the computer. You still have to order a ton, to do the pre order for the $25 dollar discount. The computer would not accept a lay away or a rain check. But the manager said that phone call would be made to the regional order guy. He said once they know what is going on, then they will know how to sell it. And that may require getting a ton at the store first, which may take a while.? ... to be continued.
Ok, just spoke with another TS, they are somewhat saying what Plymouth has been saying, that they can not enter a pre buy into the computer, before they have at least one ton at the store. The Big question would be, will any of my local TS's get any # of tons before the deadline of the prebuy being July 26?? And if not will they be able to verbally AND computer entry, Honor the prebuy price, After the prebuy date. ... to be continued.
They really have no clue.
I buy by the ton, but it came up in conversation with the manager that they require you take the whole ton because once the pallet is open they don't want it getting wet and compromised! hahaha! Coal that cant get wet!

TSC has been for several years now been selling many, many tons of pellets and those received TT loads are unloaded and stored outside. They had to have found out the hard way that breaking the pallet wrapper off outside can cause great losses with any exposed bags getting wet and the pellets then swelling and crumbling.
We just pre ordered 4 tons (Rice) from TSC yesterday . Paid $ 68 x 4 for deposit. I will miss the 40lb Santa bags but I'll be saving a lot. And I'm glad to here Kimmels burns ok. We get hammered up North here for every thing. Gas is much higher, etc. One horse town.

I ordered 4 tons at the TS near me in Jackson, Mi with no problems at all. The store manager that helped me was very nice and even though they did not offer it last year they were happy to order it for me.
Same deal as already mentioned....$5.99 is the new price this year. With the discount it was $5.49.
He said it should be in around the 1st of August.
Now the joy of transferring 200 bags into the basement.... .

I too ordered 4 tons from TSC .
My problem isnt putting it away. Its making 8 trips to get it home 1/2 ton at a time. Ive hauled a ton many times in my F150, but that was a short distance on good roads. This is about 25 miles on fair roads.

Last year I had to drive over 30 miles one way to the Adrian store for it. But I did notice that TS contracts delivery out to a 3rd party for $100 plus $1 per mile. If they can deliver it all in one load....that might be worth the money. Now the joy of transferring 200 bags into the basement.... .[/quote wrote:

But I still hate having to get it all into the basement and stack it up.
